How Velha Goa Became Nova Goa

Old Goa or Velha Goa, the older capital, was earlier known as the Rome of the East and holds many unique monumental churches boasting a beauty that cannot be found anywhere else in the world! Panjim or Nova Goa, the current capital of Goa, on the other hand, is known for its Indo-Portuguese style architecture that was one of the first to be established when the capital was moved. One beautiful little section that was built during the making of Panjim was Fontainhas, also called the Latin Quarters of Panjim.

Let us welcome you to a unique experience of the two capitals of Goa -we start off by taking you to the lesser-known side of Old Goa or Velha Goa and introduce you to some iconic monumental churches in what used to be called the Rome of the East, each monument holding some beautiful art forms and stories the walls are waiting to share, after which you will be taken to one beautiful little section of Nova Goa - Fontainhas, also called the Latin Quarters of Panjim, resembling streets in Europe. Get ready to explore!
