Trail Overview

The Stories of Narkasur Trail in Margao offers an immersive glimpse into one of Goa’s most vibrant traditions. The Narkasur festival, celebrated on the eve of Diwali, marks the legendary defeat of the demon king Narkasur by Lord Krishna, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. This tradition comes to life with the creation of towering effigies of Narkasur, which are paraded and burned in a grand spectacle across Goa.

On this trail, you'll explore Margao’s historic streets, beginning at the Holy Spirit Church, and delve into the town's rich cultural stories. A visit to Damodar Sal adds a spiritual dimension to the journey, blending tradition and devotion. The highlight of the trail is meeting the Narkasur creators, local artisans who passionately craft these larger-than-life effigies. You’ll gain insight into their creativity and the community spirit behind the festival.

The experience concludes with a taste of authentic Goan snacks, giving you a flavor of the region's culinary heritage, making this trail a perfect mix of culture, tradition, and celebration.
