Safarnama
Derived from the Urdu word “Safarnama,” meaning “Travelogue,” this event embodies the essence of travel experiences and storytelling. The idea of merging storytelling with travel was always a part of Soul Travelling’s vision. Pratik, one of the key curators, shares, “The idea was always there to inculcate storytelling and travelling together and make it into a fun event. Safarnama was always there from the inception of Soul Travelling. We just gave it a facelift and made it so that people would love it in 2024.”
Crafting the Concept
The initial concept was to create a chill, laid-back event similar to an open mic, but with a stronger focus on audience involvement and travel stories. The challenge was to make it sellable and appealing to a broad audience. Pratik explains, “The biggest challenge is how to make it sellable. All previous ideas had to be scrapped, and we had to work from scratch with the whole statement of making something friendly and fun for all age groups.”
The team wanted to create a platform where strangers could meet and bond over their shared love for travel. Mayuresh and Royston played crucial roles in refining the concept and finding modern solutions to make it relevant for 2024.
Pratik emphasises the collaborative effort, “Not just me but my team members Mayuresh and Royston were the ones who did not give up, but found modern solutions to make it more relevant in 2024 where strangers would meet and bond over travelling stories.”
The Heart of Safarnama
Safarnama is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of personal travel experiences. We never had a laid-back product where people are free to do what they want while there is something running on stage. This idea of strangers coming for an event and bonding with fellow travellers is something no one has tried earlier. So we are excited to do it at Soul Travelling.”
